The Bookend Meditations ~ Day 48:
I felt such a profound and significant shift in my 40 day adventure into these meditations that I decided to continue them indefinitely. And I am happy that I am joined by a few compadres. We shall plumb the depths of what these practices have to offer us. I will do my best to journal along the way. I have just finished a five day stint in the Blue Mountains of the eastern U.S. with my spirit sisters and brothers at the Sat Nam East Festival founded and organized by the sweet souls of Spirit Voyage. It was my distinct honor and great joy to attend this gathering and partake in so many shared experiences. I will journal about our experiences there in another spot. For now, I spent this morning’s 5x5x5 breath meditation out on the back porch under the waning super full moon of August as she slipped into the west behind the treetops. As I breathed quietly to the rhythm of my heart beat, I could feel oneness of the rhythm of my heart with the rhythms of the cacophony of insects all calling, mostly with vigorous leg rubbings, to that rhythm of The Sound Current we all share. Yet another example of all of us, all living beings, beating out the rhythms of life in oneness, in a common rhythm, always together. One only has to listen to hear it. It is there whether I am paying attention or not, an inescapable reality. We are connected always, no matter how the ego wants to raise itself up and create the illusion of separateness. When I remember, the veils covering the Great Mystery lift and I get a glimpse of a larger world. As I deepened into this breathing meditation period, I wondered at the absent of bird song. It seems the birds have slept in a little later than usual this morning. It is a rare morning indeed when I walk onto the porch for this practice before the birds are already busy heralding the day. I sat for an additional seven minutes or so and sang the Mul Mantra into the valley. As I finished, the birds joined me in opening the day with their own version. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to travel to commune with friends from afar, and also greatly comforted and happy to be back home in this little valley sharing the day with these beloved trees, birds, insects, and all of the other creatures nestled within it. We are a closely knit community, and as I breathe in the surrounding prana, I am literally sensing into all of the prana we share. I send gratitude out to Tommy Rosen and the other Bookenders and breathe in the prana with them. We breathe as one and ride The Sound Current together. May we all find the flow in the path and stay in the sweet surrender. Ong sung wahe guru. Sat Nam!
