Meet Elizabeth Kipp: Chronic Pain Survivor and Healer

Elizabeth Kipp wears many hats. She’s a stress management and historical trauma specialist, yoga-informed addiction recovery coach, ancestral clearing practitioner, and betrayal trauma recovery coach. But her expertise isn’t just professional; it’s personal.

Elizabeth lived with chronic pain for four decades. After being told by doctors that healing was impossible, she found a unique pain management program that changed her life. In just 52 days, she went from daily, relentless pain to living pain-free—and she’s committed herself to helping others discover their own healing paths.

“We can heal without medications. And part of my problem was medication, because that was the only answer all the other doctors had for me.”

Redefining Chronic Pain and Its Roots

Elizabeth explains that chronic pain is physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, or financial pain felt at least 15 days a month for three months or more. Crucially, the brain can’t always distinguish between a broken bone and a broken heart, meaning emotional trauma can convert into physical pain and vice versa.

Many who suffer from chronic pain develop coping mechanisms like dissociation, simply as a means of survival. Elizabeth recounts her own denial and dissociation, especially growing up in a dysfunctional family and never realizing her emotional wounds were part of her physical pain.

The Critical Role of Stress and the Nervous System

Elizabeth highlights how chronic pain locks the nervous system’s stress response in the “on” position. This constant fight-or-flight state floods the body with stress hormones, impairs sleep, and warps memory and emotional processing. It keeps the body from truly resting and healing.

“The greatest healer in your life lives in you…Our job is to follow the protocol the healers give us…then get out of the way. Let the body heal.”

Tools for Healing: Mindfulness, Breathwork, and Ancestral Clearing

Elizabeth shares her daily routine, which includes breath practices, mindfulness, gentle yoga, and meditation. She also draws on ancestral clearing, a unique practice acknowledging that we inherit both gifts and burdens from previous generations. Scientific research is now supporting what spiritual teachers have long maintained: trauma can be passed down, and energetic healing can help break these cycles.

One powerful takeaway from the podcast was an experiential ancestral clearing meditation, where Elizabeth guided listeners through the process of forgiving and letting go of burdens from their lineage and personal past – a truly moving practice to lighten the emotional load we all carry.

Embracing Presence and Self-Compassion

After years of “fighting” pain, Elizabeth learned to cultivate presence and self-compassion, moving from a place of battle into a place of peace. “Can we find some softness and ease…for even when I get the fight again right on the inside?” she asks. The answer is yes—through mindfulness, gratitude, and heart-centered practices, healing and joy can return.
